Endocrinology

We are one of the largest endocrine and bone departments in the world, caring for a wide range of conditions in children and young people.

We aim to provide high-quality, family orientated, world-class care and see approximately 2,500 children and young people every year in our clinics. We also provide a wide range of specialist endocrine services.

We have a dedicated onsite service in our Medical Day Care Unit for endocrine investigations and treatment, enabling us to investigate and treat the majority of children as day cases and avoid unnecessary admissions, which is usually much more convenient for families.

We also provide support and care to children and young people care for under other specialist teams at our Children’s hospital, as well as to other centres regionally, nationally and internationally.

We see referrals from all over the UK, and accept referrals from GPs, district general hospitals and tertiary specialist services from outside the UK.

Consultants in the team deliver outreach endocrinology clinics to provide tertiary endocrine care to a number of district general hospitals in the midlands and beyond.
